Our Philosophy
For Dogs and Humans Alike
Every human deserves the ability to love their dog, and every dog deserves the ability to fully trust in their beloved human. So many owners can not safely allow their dogs the freedom they want to be able to offer, and it is our belief that a bond formed on communication and mutual respect is the best way to gain confidence in your dog. Knowing your dog will answer when you ask is the key to expanding their world and allowing them to see so much more of life at your side, and fair, effective training is the pathway to reaching that goal. A happy and fulfilled canine is one that sleeps soundly at night, and enjoys all the freedom they can handle while you gain confidence in your abilities as both a dog handler and a leader.
Where It Began
Civility started as a dog training dream that grew slowly, but steadily over the years. A desire to provide opportunities for anyone to improve their relationship with their dog regardless of life-given limitations. Though a lofty goal, we now hope to offer guidance to as many as we can, constantly expanding our scope of knowledge in order to bring even more opportunities right to your doorstep.
With years of experience based in Balance Training methodology, we're eager to tailor our gained skills to the needs of anyone seeking to learn and improve for the sake of themselves, and for the sake of their dog.
Balance Training Method
As beloved companions, dedicated working partners, and adoring family pets, dogs play big roles in the lives of many. As our devoted companions, they are as worthy of respect as you and I are, and deserve to be treated as individuals in and out of training scenarios. Trainers practicing Balance Training strive to tailor their abilities to the unique dog they are working with at a given time to maximize that dog's opportunity to succeed. A timid, uncertain pooch would be met with encouragement and baby-step goals to build confidence; a rambunctious romper overflowing with enthusiasm would be shown direction and firm, but fair structure. Each dog is treated as a unique case, because each dog is.
